From Emory University Athletics

The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out the month of September on a solid note, posting a pair of Wednesday wins over city foes. The Eagles ventured to Agnes Scott College where they recorded a 3-0 triumph over Oglethorpe (25-17, 25-23, 25-6) before defeating the host Scotties, 3-0 (25-4, 25-15, 25-10). Emory has won its last five matches and stands 17-2 on the season.

On a night where Emory head coach Jenny McDowell freely used a number of players who hadn't garnered much playing time to date, sophomore Victoria Lord paced the Eagles' offensive attack against Oglethorpe with a career-best 10 kills, with that mark also finishing as the  match high.  Freshman Sydney Leimbach tied her season high with nine terminations while registering a .333 (9-3—18) hitting percentage. Freshman Mira Grinsfelder hit .556 with six terminations and one error in nine opportunities. Junior Sheridan Rice led all players with 14 digs, helping Emory to a 58-41 advantage in that category, while freshman Mila Barzdukas chipped in a dozen. Sophomore Hannah Billings and freshman Mady Arles totaled 18 and 15 assists, respectively.

Lord followed her Oglethorpe outing with another match-best 10 terminations performance against Agnes Scott, finishing that bout with an impressive hitting mark of .444 (10-2—18). Senior Ashley Crawford and Katelyn Green figured prominently in the victory with the pair combining for 17 kills to go along with .451 attack percentage. Crawford  was second on the club with nine successful attack attempts en route to hitting .389 (9-2—18) while Green was Emory's most efficient hitter, blasting away for a .538 percentage with a career-high eight kills and just one miscue in 13 swings. The Eagles concluded the match hitting .423 (42-9—78), their second-highest mark of the season, while holding ASC to -.077 (11-16—65).  Emory held a 31-25 edge in digs with Rice racking up 17. Billings wound up with 19 assists and Arles 14.
