After a fast start to the season, University of Chicago volleyball player Maren Loe was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Loe was the first winner of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) weekly honor. The senior outside hitter helped lead the Maroons to a 4-0 record last week with big offensive numbers. She totaled 75 kills in four matches (5.36 kills per set) while hitting .284 with 11 service aces, 38 digs (2.71 digs per set) and eight blocks.

Saturday was Loe's biggest day at UChicago's Gargoyle Classic. She tallied 26 kills and 15 digs to lead her team to a 3-2 victory over No. 3-ranked Hope College. It marked UChicago's first-ever win against Hope in six tries. Earlier in the day, she posted 19 kills, 11 digs and five aces in a 3-0 sweep of Aurora University. She was named the Gargoyle Classic MVP at the conclusion of the weekend.
