The New York University women's volleyball team split its two matches on the second day of competition at the Ducks Classic, which was held on Friday and Saturday, September 19-20, in Hoboken, NJ.
The Violets began the day with a three-set sweep (25-20, 33-31, 25-16) of the Arcadia University Knights (3-5).
Rayne Ellis helped lead the Violets to victory, totaling 13 kills for the match.
A strong match from Brooke Tannahill (team highs of 17 digs and four service aces) also helped clinch the victory for NYU.
"Brooke performed consistently throughout the weekend in serve receive and was very strong overall defensively," Head Coach Jolie Ward said.
NYU's second match was a 3-0 loss (25-22, 25-7, 25-18) to the Stockton University Ospreys (13-1).
MATCH-ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
- Elissa Davila-Shiau finished the contest with 31 assists.
- Shelby King notched 11 kills.
- Alexis Jackson had seven kills and seven digs and was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
MATCH-TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
- Daryl Mitchell totaled 20 assists.
- Celine Das finished the contest with three aces.
