Rochester to Host UAA Volleyball Championship; Top-Ranked Emory Seeks Repeat

Top-ranked Emory University seeks to repeat as Association champions at the 2015 UAA Volleyball Championship Friday and Saturday at University of Rochester.

Emory (30-2) enters the championship as the top seed as well as the No. 1 team in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association National Poll. The Eagles have won six UAA titles, including four in the past six seasons.

Washington University (29-2) is seeded second in the championship and ranked third in the AVCA Poll. The Bears, who won 17 of the first 18 UAA Volleyball titles and 20 total titles, seek their first Association championship since 2011.

Case Western Reserve University (22-6) enters the tournament seeded third. The Spartans received votes in the most recent national poll.

Fourth-seeded Carnegie Mellon University (25-6) and fifth-seeded 2013 UAA champion University of Chicago (19-10) are ranked 21st and 22nd, respectively, in the latest AVCA poll.

The host Yelliowjackets (15-15) are the sixth seed with NYU (15-16) and Brandeis University (5-24) seeded seventh and eighth, respectively.

Play opens at noon on Friday with Emory facing Brandeis and Washington playing NYU. The championship match is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The UAA champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship.
