Yellowjackets Hit Well to Spur a 3-0 Win Over NYU

Rochester regained its winning ways by posting a 3-0 victory over host New York University in  the UAA Women's Volleyball Round Robin #1 on Sunday morning.

The Yellowjackets won, 25-10, 25-17, 25-17. Rochester improved to 11-9 overall and is 1-2 in UAA play. The second round robin will be held in two weeks' time at Case Western Reserve. Results of the round robin matches are used to seed the teams for the UAA Championships. Rochester will host that event on November 6-7. NYU's record stood at 9-10, 0-3 UAA after the Yellowjacket win.
 
Rochester attacked strongly. The Yellowjackets hit .289 for the match and got off to a blazing start in game one, hitting .464. In game two, Rochester hit .250, and in game three, .195.
 
Jennie Ford had 12 kills. Emma Gira contributed 10 kills. Shira Katz had eight, and Nina Baek had seven. With several effective hitters, Aimee Kohler produced 35 assists. She also had four digs.
 
Baek had 15 kills and Meghan Connor had 11. Ashley Hunter and Ford dug seven balls. Gira had five of Rochester's nine service aces. Baek and Hunter each had two. Katz had three block assists. Gira and Alexandra Goldman had two apiece. Ford had one.
