Bears Take Over Top Spot in AVCA Top-25 Poll; Four UAA Teams Ranked

Coming off three wins in UAA Round Robin play, the Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team is the new No. 1 team in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top-25 poll.

This marks the 81st week all-time the Bears have reached the top spot in the AVCA poll, and the first time since Oct. 30, 2012.

Emory University, also coming off a 3-0 mark at the first UAA Round Robin, remained as the third-ranked team.

University of Chicago, which won two of three matches at the UAA Round Robin, moved up one spot and is ranked 15th in this week's poll.

Case Western Reserve University, also winners of two of three matches in UAA play, are ranked 24th, the Spartans' first national ranking in program history.

Carnegie Mellon University also received votes.

The second UAA Round Robin is scheduled for next weekend, Oct. 17-18, at CWRU.
