Eight UAA Players Earn AVCA All-Region Honors

Eight players from the top three teams in the UAA were named to the 2016 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-Region Teams.

Three players from Association champion Emory University were selected to the AVCA South Region Team. Senior middle blocker Jessica Holler, the UAA Most Valuable Player, garnered all-region accolades for the fourth time. Senior right side Sarah Maher was named to the team for the third time and sophomore middle blocker Sydney Leimbach received the honor for the first time.

Three seniors from UAA runner-up Carnegie Mellon University were named to the AVCA North Region Team. Middle blocker Jackie Gibbons made her second appearance on the all-region team, while libero Molly Higgins and setter Emily Newton received all-region honors for the first time.

Senior middle blocker Caroline Dupont of Washington University made the AVCA Central Region team for the fourth time and classmate Rexi Sheredy was named to the all-region team for the second time.

Sophomores Lauren Mueller of Carnegie Mellon, Sarah Muisenga of University of Chicago, and Clara Martinez of University of Rochester earned honorable mention recognition.
