CWRU Goes Undefeated at Capital/Otterbein Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team added two more wins to their tally to remain undefeated at the Capital / Otterbein Invitational in Bexley, Ohio on Saturday, defeating Earlham College 3-0 in the early match, followed by a 3-0 victory over Kenyon College.

The Spartans kept their flawless record for the season intact improving to 3-0 on the year.

CWRU improved on the attack against Earlham, hitting .260 for the match, winning 25-9, 25-18, 25-9. The Spartans performance was highlighted by an eight kill and a .333 attack percentage from senior outside hitter Marian Barton.

Sophomore setter Shannon Carroll led the team with 17 assists, sophomore libero Karina Bondelid and sophomore defensive specialist Emily Wolfenbarger each led the Spartans with 10 digs.

CWRU continued its winning streak with a three-set victory over Kenyon, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-17. Freshman outside hitter Brianna Lemon led on the attack with 11 kills, while Carroll added 30 more assists to her total for the day. Carroll also recorded 14 digs matching Lemons total for the team lead in the contest.
