Caroline Dupont of Washington University Named AVCA DIII National Player of the Week

Washington University in St. Louis senior middle hitter Caroline Dupont was selected as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the organization. 

Dupont is the 19th individual in Washington University history to earn National Player of the Week honors. It marks the 27th time in the history of the award that an individual from WashU has been recognized, and the second overall for Dupont. She previously received the award on Sept. 10, 2013.

The Leawood, Kan. – native led the Bears to a 3-1 record on the weekend, including victories over the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) No. 1 and No. 5 ranked teams in California Lutheran and Juniata. Dupont was consistent and efficient for the Bears, posting more than 10 kills in every match, totaling 48 on the weekend while also contributing 16 digs and five solo blocks defensively. 

Against the top-ranked Regals, Dupont totaled 12 kills while posting a .455 hitting percentage while adding five digs and two solo blocks. She helped the Bears jump out to a first set victory with four kills against Cal Lu as the Bears won in five sets, capturing the 3-2 victory during the Wittenberg Fall Classic.
