Emory Volleyball Tops CWRU to Finish First Round Robin Undefeated

The No. 7-ranked Emory volleyball team continued its winning ways on Sunday, registering a victory over Case Western Reserve in its final action of the University Athletic Association Round Robin I. 

The Eagles won their 10th straight match and raised their overall won-lost ledger to 14-3 (3-0 UAA) following a 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-22) decision over the Spartans. Serving as the host site of the Round Robin I was Carnegie Mellon University.

Emory hit .378 (45-8—98) in contest while limiting the Spartans to a mark of .081 (27-19—99), the 10th consecutive and 14th time this year it finished with an edge in that category. Senior Jessica Holler closed out a strong weekend by leading all players with 12 kills en route to registering a .455 hitting percentage (12-2—22). Holler has eight consecutive contests and 14 on the campaign with double-figure kills to her credit. In the three matches at the RR I, Holler hit .415 (35-8—65) while also contributing 14 total blocks. Senior Sarah Maher chipped in 10 terminations, her fifth double-digit effort of the season, and hit .562 (10-1—16). Freshman Morgan McKnight and senior Kathryn Trinkaadded nine and eight kills, respectively, with McKnight registering an attack percentage of .562 (9-0—16) and Trinka a .381 effort (8-0—21).

Freshman Sarah Porter dished out 41 assists, her second-highest mark of the year, while sophomore Becky Breuer led the team with 11 digs.

During its 10-match win streak, the Eagles have won 30 of 33 sets. The squad's hitting percentage on the afternoon was the seventh time this year it had hit .300 or higher.
