Emory Sweeps Gevena At Guisler Invitational

The No. 7-ranked Emory volleyball team opened play at the Wid Guisler Invitational Friday evening with a sweep over Geneva College. The Eagles topped the Golden Tornadoes, 25-9, 25- 11, 25-19, boosting their season record to 22-4.

Emory ended the match hitting .358 (48-10—106), the 10th time this season hit .300 or higher, while holding Geneva to an effort of .053 (21-15-113). Senior Jessica Holler paced all players with 12 kills and hit .450 (12-3—20), her 15th performance of an attack percentage of .400 or higher. Senior Sarah Maher ranked second on the club with 11 kills to go along with a hitting mark of .429.  Maher also totaled 11 digs that represented her fifth double-double (kills/digs) of the campaign.

Senior Kathryn Trinka and sophomore Sydney Leimbach totaled seven and six successful attack attempts, respectively, with Trinka posting a .400 hitting effort and Leimbach a .455 showing.  Sophomore Becky Breuer tied her season high with 27 digs, while freshman Sarah Porter dished out 39 assists.
