The New York University women's volleyball team concluded University Athletic Association (UAA) regular season play at the UAA Round Robin #2 hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, on Sunday, October 16. NYU dropped its first match of the day to Washington University - St. Louis, before battling back to beat the host Judges in its finale.
The Violets finished the UAA regular season with a 1-6 record in Association play and will be the #7 seed at the UAA Championship, which will be hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, on November 4 and 5. NYU will take on second-seeded Emory in the quarterfinals.
Against WashU the Violets fell in straight sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-17. NYU bounced back, however, to defeat Brandeis in four sets. The Violets set the tone early, defeating the Judges to 25-21 and 25-16 in the first two frames. Brandeis took the third set 25-23, but NYU clinched the victory with a 25-22 win in the fourth and final set.
Highlights vs. WashU:
- Annie Singh recorded six kills to lead the Violets, while Sabrina Krebs and Caroline Rapp each chipped in with five.
- Katie Goyette lead the squad in assists with 18.
- Grace Napolitano tallied a team-best 11 digs.
Highlights vs. Brandeis:
- Caroline Rapp and Gretchen Cash each finished with a match-best 13 kills.
- Goyette once again led the Violets in assists, this time recording 39.
- Cash, Rayne Ellis and Kelsey Kraetz each finished with four blocks to lead NYU up front.
