Defending champion Washington University to Host UAA Volleyball Championship; Chicago Seeded First

Defending champion Washington University will serve as hosts of the 2016 UAA Volleyball Championship Friday and Saturday. University of Chicago went undefeated in round robin play and enters as the top seed.

Chicago (17-9) is seeking its second UAA title in four years. The Maroons advanced to the Association championship match in 2013 and 2014.

Emory University (27-5) enters the championship tournament ranked eighth in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Poll. The Eagles have won six UAA titles, including the past three even year championships (2010, 2012, 2014).

The host Bears (20-9) come into the championship seeded third and ranked 14th in the AVCA poll. Last year's championship was the program's 21st UAA title and first since 2011.

Fourth-seeded Carnegie Mellon University (23-6) is ranked 21st in the AVCA poll.

University of Rochester (22-10) is the fifth seed and regionally ranked in the latest NCAA Division III regional rankings.

Case Western Reserve University (20-8) is the sixth seed with NYU (15-14) and Brandeis University (7-18) seeded seventh and eighth, respectively.

Play opens at noon on Friday with Chicago facing Brandeis and Emory playing NYU. The championship match is set for 1 p.m. CST on Saturday.

The UAA champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship.
