Yellowjackets Split With Rowan and Messiah

Rochester split its two volleyball matches on Saturday at the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic. Rochester defeated Rowan University, 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-18), and lost, 3-0, to Messiah College (16-25, 26-28, 24-26).

Counting Friday's victory over the host Blue Jays, the Yellowjackets stand at 8-4 overall heading into a Tuesday evening home match vs. Buffalo State College. Rowan was 2-9 after the loss to Rochester. Messiah College improved to 9-1 with its victory over UR.

Against Rowan, Aimee Kohler had 26 assists, four aces, and six digs. Alexandra Goldman had six kills. Alara Kocak led the way with eight kills. Beth Ghyzel had five kills and Shira Katz added four kills.

Goldman and Kocak had three blocks apiece. Kocak added three digs. Meghan Connor had 17 digs. Nina Baek and Courtney Vidovich had five digs. Rochester hit .147 as a team.

In the match against Messiah, Goldman and Alexandra Nelligan were the kill leaders with six apiece. Ghyzel had five. Megan McHugh and Clara Martinez had four apiece. Kocak added three.

Vidovich had two service aces. Connor and Kohler had one each. Ghyzel had two total blocks as did McHugh. Martinez and Goldman had one each.

Connor was the digs leader with 13. Sara Apanavicius had nine and Vidovich matched her. Nelligan dug seven balls. Kohler had 25 assists.
