Brandeis Sweeps Second Day of New England Invitational

The Brandeis University volleyball team swept the second day of the New England Invitational to move to 4-2 on the season. The Judges did not drop a set on the day, rolling through both Anna Maria and Rochester Institute of Technology by a score of 3-0.

AGAINST ANNA MARIA (25-17, 25-20, 25-13)

  • Junior Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, Calif. / Marymount) led all players with 10 kills, hitting a robust .444 for the match. Three other Judges tallied seven kills: junior Kirsten Frauens (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder), who hit an uber-efficient.545 during the match, freshman Marissa Borgert(Blaine, Minn. / Spring Lake Park), and freshman Belle Scott (Portland, Ore. / Oregon Episcopal School).

  • Junior Leah Pearlman (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) handled the setting for the first part of the match, amassing 22 assists, and rookie Megan Osorio Moran (Hollywood, Fla. / St. Thomas Aquinas)took over midway through, picking up 13 assists of her own.

  • Junior Yvette Cho (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Bernardo) had a match-high 15 digs.

  • The Judges hit .255 for the match (47K-20E-106TA).

AGAINST RIT (25-20, 25-11, 25-14)

  • The Judges used quick starts to stop the Tigers, jumping out in front 9-2, 10-4, and 10-5 in the three sets respectively.

  • Brandeis had a balanced attack, with six Judges contributing at least three kills each. Decker-Jacoby led the team and the match with nine kills and sophomore Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury) hit an astounding .727 with eight kills.

  • Pearlman led all players in assists, matching her total from earlier in the day with 22 helpers.

  • Decker-Jacoby also led the match in digs with a season-high 12. Cho also added 10 digs.

  • The Judges hit .308 for the match (34K-6E-91TA).
