From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team split a pair of matches to close out the Carnegie Mellon University Tournament. The Spartans fell to Salisbury University in five, but bounced back to win 3-1 against Messiah College.

CWRU moves to 10-6 on the campaign, while Salisbury improved to 11-4 and Messiah dropped to 5-9 on the season.

Versus Salisbury, the Spartans fell by scores 25-9, 29-27, 21-25, 22-25 and 15-11.

Statistically, sophomore middle hitter Haley Sims posted a team-best 14 kills. Freshman setter Jiayi Shen led in assists with 27. Junior libero Noel Jeansonne tallied a team-high 23 digs, while freshman outside hitter Anna Jaskoviak contributed three kills and 11 digs.

Salisbury was led by Nicole Venturelli who tallied a game-high 16 kills and 10 digs.

Against Messiah, the Spartans were victorious by counts of 25-23, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-23.

Sophomore outside hitter Karley King led the attack with 13 kills. Sophomore setter Faith Ellis and Shen split the setting duties with 25 and 23 assists, respectively. The Spartan back row was paced by Jaskoviak with a team-high 16 digs and Jeansonne with 14.

Messiah was led by Braedyn Gallagher with 16 kills and 11 digs.
