Head Coach Karen Farrell Wins 400th Career Game as Spartans Split on Day 2 to Conclude UAA Round Robin #2

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team split its two matches on the second and final day of competition at the University Athletic Association Round Robin #2. The Spartans fell in four sets to the 13th-ranked University of Chicago, but defeated the University of Rochester (N.Y) in straight sets to give Head Coach Karen Farrell her 400th career victory.

Farrell, who entered the year 15 wins shy of 400, improved to 400-330 during her 22 seasons of coaching.

With the split, the Spartans move to 15-9 overall and 4-3 in the UAA.

Versus Chicago (19-4, 5-1 UAA), the Spartans fell by scores by of 25-20, 25-22, 17-25 and 25-21. Sophomore outside hitter Brianna Lemon posted the squads top kill total with 14, while sophomore setter Faith Ellis contributed 43 assists. Defensively, junior libero Karina Bondelid tallied a team-high 17 digs.

Against Rochester (12-10, 2-5 UAA), the Spartans won the match 25-11, 25-14 and 25-23.

Sophomore outside hitter Karley King posted a team-high 11 kills on 15 total attempts for a .600 hitting percentage. Ellis registered 36 assists and five digs for the match. Bondelid led the defense with a game-high 17 digs.
