Andrew Brown Selected as NYU Volleyball Head Coach

From NYU Athletics

Andrew Brown has been hired as Head Coach of the New York University women's volleyball team, it was announced on Tuesday, January 23. Brown brings a wealth of experience to NYU.

Over the past three seasons, he served as the Women's Head Coach at Union College, where his teams produced a 66-37 record and posted second- and third-place finishes in the Liberty League. During that span, two of his players earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America accolades.

"I am very excited that Andrew Brown has accepted this position," said Christopher Bledsoe, NYU's Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics. "In our conversations, it was clear that Andrew understands what makes NYU and our student-athlete experience special. He is prepared to connect with our volleyball student-athletes starting today to begin improving all of the facets of NYU women's volleyball."

Brown also served as the Women's Head Coach at NCAA Division I Saint Peter's University from 2012-15, guiding the Peacocks to a top-10 team grade-point average in all of Division I women's volleyball.

"Coach Brown is the right person at the right time to revitalize NYU women's volleyball and re-establish our place in the UAA (University Athletic Association)," Bledsoe added. "I also want to publicly thank Karl France for stepping in as Interim Coach for these past weeks. It says so much about NYU and Coach France that we have a person of his talent willing and able to step up when called upon."

A 2011 graduate of Ramapo College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication arts, Brown was an outside hitter for the Roadrunners' volleyball team for two seasons. As a senior, he finished with 196 kills as Ramapo earned its sixth-straight berth in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Conference Tournament and made an appearance in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Championship.

Brown also served as an assistant coach for the men's volleyball team at his alma mater for three seasons (2012-15). He helped guide the squads to three-straight Skyline Conference tournaments and back-to-back finals appearances in 2014 and 2015.

"I would like to thank Christopher Bledsoe, Janice Quinn, Frank Sicignano, and the NYU search committee. I'm excited and honored to be chosen to coach at NYU," Brown said. "I look forward to working with such high-level student-athletes and building success."

Brown's other coaching stints include Head USA Women's Volleyball Coach at the Maccabiah Games in Israel (Summer 2017) and Varsity Boys and Girls Head Coach at Montclair High School (2010-15).

A native of Montclair, NJ, Brown has also held various positions at numerous volleyball camps.
