From University of Chicago Athletics

The No. 16 University of Chicago of volleyball team swept its way to its 11th-straight victory Saturday, downing host Elmhurst College by scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-19 to complete a two-win weekend at the Bluejays Quadrangular.

The Maroons (17-3) matched their highest winning streak since the 2011 season, when UChicago won its first 11 games of the year. That team would finish with a 30-6 mark and advance to the NCAA Second Round.

Juniors Audrey Scrafford (13 kills) and Sarah Muisenga (11 kills) and sophomore Anabella Pinton (10 kills) all totaled double-digit kills for UChicago, rookie Emma Griffith delivered a match-best 41 assists and libero Anne Marie Stifter recorded 20 digs to lead the way in the win.

UChicago, who defeated Otterbein 3-0 on Friday, hit a stellar .304 for the match while holding the Bluejays (7-11) to just a .066 attack percentage. The Maroons particularly dominated the final set, recording 19 kills with just five errors to hit a crisp .400.

Elmhurst did out-block the Maroons, 8.0 to 2.0 in total team blocks, but Pinton finished with two block assists to lead UChicago's efforts.

Stifter added two service aces, Muisenga and senior Frances McDonald chipped in nine digs, and Emma Griffith and Katherine Wilson had eight digs each in the victory. Also contributing was Madison Pearson with nine kills, six digs and one block assist in an all-around effort.

Alli Rogers led Elmhurst with nine kills, Kelly Townsend had 27 assists and Rachel Shuty had 12 digs for the Bluejays in the loss.
