Julianne Malek of Washington University Selected to AVCA All-America Third Team

Junior middle hitter Julianne Malek of the Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Third Team, as announced by the association on Tuesday morning.

Malek's All-America selection marks the 32nd consecutive season in which a Bear has been honored. She is the 46th individual in program history to be honored, and her selection is the 98th all-time in WashU volleyball history.

The Woodlands, Texas-native led the Bears in hitting percentage (.427) and totaled 351 kills with 63 errors in 674 attempts. Malek also finished atop the Bears leaderboard in service aces with 41 on the season. Defensively, the First-Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, contributed 91 total blocks while chipping in 80 digs.

Malek ranks second in the country in hitting percentage, 97th in blocks and 116th in total kills while the Bears competed against the nation's 10th most difficult schedule. Against No. 2-Calvin College in the NCAA Tournament, she totaled 15 kills with a .480 hitting percentage while also tallying four digs, three block assists, an ace and an assist.
