Karley King of CWRU Named to Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III Volleyball Team

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Case Western Reserve University junior outside hitter Karley King has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III Volleyball Second Team, based on her outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the court over her career as a Spartan.

King becomes the 105th person in the history of Case Western Reserve athletics to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition. She is just the fourth player in the history of the volleyball program to earn the honor, joining former Spartans Carolyn Bogart (2015), Tricia McCutchan (2009, 2010, 2011) and Lindsey Deyer (2000).

King, an All-UAA First Team selection and an All-UAA Academic honoree, finished the regular season with a .245 hitting percentage, and led the team with 362 kills (3.26 per set). Her 362 kills and 3.26 kills per set ranked third among all University Athletic Association players during the regular season. She also gathered 115 digs and 51 total blocks throughout the season. Over her three years as a Spartan, King has totaled 789 kills (2.48 per set), 205 digs and 140 total blocks.

King, who became eligible for the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team after earning an Academic All-District selection in November, carries a 4.0 cumulative grade point average as a Biomedical Engineering major at CWRU. She has received UAA All-Academic honors two times over her career, and was selected as an Academic All-District First Team selection during her sophomore year.

Case Western Reserve's 104 Academic All-Americans to begin the year ranked tied for 13th-most among NCAA Division III institutions and are tied for 46th among all collegiate athletic programs.
