Five CWRU Women Named USTFCCCA Scholar Athletes

Five members of the Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team have been selected as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Scholar Athletes for the 2013 cross country season.

In addition to senior captain Brooke Simpson (Solon, Ohio/Solon), four sophomores earned the award, Kelsey Aamoth (Solon, Ohio/Solon), Kristen Ruckstuhl (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor), Dana Jeter (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and Lydia Greene (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike). Honorees must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater and must have finished among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championship.

Aamoth, a biomedical engineering major with a 4.0 GPA, turned in her second-straight stellar season. The team's leader in all six varsity races, Aamoth fifth at the University Athletic Association Championship (22:15.7) and 21st at the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region Championship (22:34.3).

Ruckstuhl, a biochemistry major with a 3.75 GPA, joined Aamoth as an all-region performer with a 34th-place time of 23:53.5. Jeter, a mathematics major with a 3.83 GPA, placed 49th in 23:12.3.

Simpson, a 3.41 student in nursing, and Greene, a 3.33 student in psychology, also scored at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
