Spartans Place Fourth Ahead of Four Nationally Ranked Teams at Inter-Regional Rumble

Led by junior Kelsey Aamoth (Solon, Ohio/Solon), the Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team placed fourth of 40 schools at Saturday's Inter-Regional Rumble hosted at the Oberlin College Cross Country Trail. The Spartans finished ahead of four nationally ranked teams.

No. 5 SUNY-Geneseo won the team title with 54 points, while No. 12 SUNY-Oneonta was runner-up at 125. No. 7 Oberlin with 148 was the only other team ahead of the Spartans (204), who defeated the likes of No. 11 University of Mount Union, No. 27 Emory University (Ga.), No. 32 Ohio Wesleyan University and No. 33 Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.).

Overall, five of the eight NCAA Regions were represented in the race.

Aamoth was 25th overall in the 341-runner field. A leader in two straight varsity races, Aamoth completed the 6k course in 23:03.3.

Senior co-captain Kristen Ruckstuhl (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was next to cross the line with a 29th-place mark of 23:12.1. Rounding out the team scoring was juniorDana Jeter (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) in 41st (23:29.8), freshman Danielle Kulpins (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) in 53rd (23:37.3) and sophomore Olivia Zabrodsky (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) in 60th (23:44.1).
