The Emory women’s cross country team came through with a fine performance at Oberlin College’s Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.
The 27th-ranked women's side finished seventh out of 40 teams, totaling 256 points. No. 5 Geneseo State took home the team title with 54 points while No. 12 Oneonta was second with 125 points. Host and No. 7 Oberlin claimed the No. 3 spot (148 pts.), followed by Case Western (204 pts.) and No. 11 Mount Union (213 pts.). For the fourth straight meet, senior Tamara Surtees finished as the Eagles’ top performer, clocking a 6K time of 22:37 that was good for 12th place out 341 runners.
Junior Marissa Gogniat was the squad’s No. 2 runner
to cross the finish line with her showing of 23:12 good for
32nd place. Senior Elise Viox
recorded a season-best time of 23:47 that placed her in the 63 slot
while senior Stephanie Crane (23:57, 73rd)
and freshman Gabrielle Rudolph (24:05,
80th) accounted for the team’s other
point scorers.
