Chicago Wins Midwest Classic

The University of Chicago women's cross country team won the Midwest Classic on Friday while the men's race was cancelled due to stormy weather.

The Maroons finished first out of seven teams with 32 points. Olivet Nazarene University, who hosted the meet, was second with 46 points. It marked UChicago's second team victory of the season.

Junior Brianna Hickey was the lead runner again for the Maroons, finishing in second place in 18:52.77. Senior Isabella Penido finished in the top five runners as well (fifth place, 19:07.70). Additionally, four freshmen placed between eighth and 14th place.

The men's race was called off at about the 3-1/4 mile mark due to storms in the area. The Maroons were in good position with eight racers in the top 14 spots at the time.
