Washington University in St. Louis senior Lucy Cheadle was selected as the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week, as announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Cheadle, who also earned National Athlete of the Week honors Sept. 22, won the individual title in the field of 559 runners at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational Saturday in Oshkosh, Wis. She pulled away from the lead pack over the final kilometer of the race to win by more than 12 seconds over runner-up Sophia Meehan of Johns Hopkins University. The third-place finisher in the race, University of Minnesota-Duluth's Samantha Rivard, was named the USTFCCCA Division II Women's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week.

Cheadle ran a career-best time of 20:44.01 to win the 6K race at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational. The time was more than 17 seconds faster than her previous career-best for the distance. Cheadle's first-place finish led Washington U. to a seventh-place finish in the team standings at the 42-team meet.
