Six Washington Cross Country Runners Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Six individuals from the Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team earned NCAA Division III All-Academic honors for the 2014 season, and the team was recognized with All-Academic Team honors, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Washington U. women were among the 211 Division III women's programs to earn the All-Academic Team honors, posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.56. Beloit College had the highest GPA among women's teams with a 3.84.

In addition to the team recognition, the Washington University women had six individuals earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, while the men's team had five honorees. Senior Lucy Cheadle received the honor for the fourth year in a row, while sophomore Sarah Curci and junior Ellen Toennies were each repeat selections from 2013. Sophomore Kimberly Johnson, freshman Alison Lindsay and junior Bri Tiffany each earned All-Academic honors for the first time in their careers.

In order to qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a team must have a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.10 through the fall semester. USTFCCCA All-Academic honors are given to individuals who have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and who placed in the top 25 percent at their respective NCAA Regional Championships. A total of 325 student-athletes representing 124 institutions earned All-Academic status on the women's side, while 246 men's student-athletes from 100 institutions were honored.
