Emily Bryson Named All-New England as Brandeis Finishes Eighth

From Brandeis University Athletics

The Brandeis University women's cross country team finished in eighth place overall at the 2015 NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships today at Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford, Conn., putting two runners on the All-New England team.

Leading the way for the Judges was rookie Emily Bryson (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy). The University Athletic Association champion finished the 6K course with almost the exact same time as she ran at the conference championships, 22:03.1. She was the third rookie to cross the line today, coming in 13th overall. Bryson looks to be in good shape to reach her first NCAA Division III championship. She had the best finish by a Brandeis rookie at New England since 1998, when Heather Davidson '01 was 12th.

Also claiming All-Region honors was junior Maddie Dolins (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park).  Dolins earned All-New England for the second time in her career, placing 29th overall with a time of 22:16.1. Dolins was 20th overall as a freshman, when she helped the Judges reach the NCAAs as a team.

The team's third finisher was Emily's twin sister Julia Bryson (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy), who had her best finish of the season as the Judges' third finisher. Julia placed 63rd overall with a time of 23:03.2, just ahead of junior teammate Ashley Piccirillo-Horan (Ashby, Mass./North Granby), who was 64th in 23:04.4. Julia Bryson was the seventh rookie to cross the finish line. Piccirillo-Horan's finish was nine places better than her previous best of 73rd as a freshman.

Junior Lydia McCaleb (Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) rounded out the team's scorers in 73rd place with a time of 23:13.0, a four-place improvement from 2014.
