NYU Places Fourth at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

The New York University women's cross country team placed fourth at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday. October 17, in Oberlin, OH.

NYU finished with a total of 167 points over the 6k course, placing them a hair behind third-place Oberlin (166). The top two finishers were Carnegie Mellon University (115) and Case Western University (139), respectively.

"
We gave ourselves a chance against some great teams," said Head Coach Boylan-Pett. "We were struggling a little bit at the beginning of the season, but we always had the talent on the team to achieve success. We just needed to get healthy and work hard."

Senior co-captain Lily Corsaro was the first among the Violet women to finish by placing 15th with a time of 21:58.8. Finishing close behind was fellow senior co-captain Sarah Sisk with a time of 22:06.1, which was good enough for 22nd place. Sophomore Hannah Haley was the last Violet to place in the top-30, taking 26th with a time of 22:12.3

"To have Corsaro and Sisk have the showing they had was tremendous," acknowledged Boylan-Pett. "Hannah had her best cross country race ever. She ran a great race."

Overall, 244 runners and 29 teams competed.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore Emily Dethlefs finshed 38th with a time of 22:30.5.

- The next pair of NYU runners finshed together as sophomore Maggie Lalowski and junior Justine Morris placed 67th and 68th with times of 22:53.5 and 22:54.3, respectively

- Also finishing hip-to-hip were NYU's seventh-and eighth-place finishers, as junior Erica Bohdan and senior Becky Turlip took 70th and 71st in times of 22:55.1 and 22:55.5, respectively.

"Any time you are in a conference like this, it is going to be fun, " said Boylan-Pett, referring to the upcoming 
University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in two weeks. "We are rounding into great shape at the right time."
