From University of Rochester Athletics
With three finishers in the top half of all the runners, the University of Rochester's women's cross country team finished 14th at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
This was Rochester's first appearance at nationals as a team since 1987. The field was comprised of 32 teams with seven runners apiece plus 56 individuals for a total of 280 competitiors.
The Yellowjackets were the second highest finisher among teams in the University Athletic Association and that carries over from the UAA Championship Meet at Franklin Park in Boston on October 31. Rochester finished second at UAAs that day.
Rochester totaled 425 points. The Yellowjackets were just six points shy of finishing in a tie for 12th place.
Katie Knox led the way. She was 75th overall (scored in 50thplace) with a clocking of 22:11.9. Annie Peterson was the second Yellowjacket into the finishing chute. She was timed at 22:24.4 for the 6K course. That placed her 108th overall, 74thin scoring. Samantha Kitchen was third for Rochester (95thplace, 137 overall) with a time of 22:35.2.
Rachel Bargabos was 144th overall (100th in scoring) in a time of 22:38.4. The fifth Yellowjacket finisher was Anya Joynt, 106th in points and 150th overall. Her time was 22:40.8.
Rochester's displacers were Audrey McCarthy (193rd, 144th scoring) in 22:52.2 and Victoria Stepanova, 219th overall, 165th in scoring with a time of 23:08.6.
