The Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team had six runners finish in the top-30 en route to winning the 2015 NCAA Division III Midwest Region Cross Country Championships Saturday at Saukie Golf Course.
The WashU women scored 68 points to repeat as the NCAA Midwest Region champions, and earn the seventh regional title in school history. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh finished as the runner-up with 106 points to claim the other automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. WashU previously won the NCAA Midwest Region Championship in 2002, 2005-07, 2011 and 2014.
The top-six runners for the WashU women all raced to All-Region honors by finishing in the top-35 – junior Sarah Curci (9th), freshman Ellie Degen (10th), sophomore Aly Wayne (13th), senior Ellen Toennies (14th), sophomore Alison Lindsay (22nd) and sophomore Anna Maurer(26th). Curci, Toennies, and Lindsay were all repeat All-Region performers from last season, while the others earned the honor for the first time in their careers.
