Tartans Place Fourth at Home Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team hosted the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday, October 8 in Schenley Park. The Tartans finished fourth out of 10 teams with Division I University of Pittsburgh winning the 5k race.

Junior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) once again led the Tartans, finishing the race in 19 minutes and 28 seconds for seventh place. Following Alavilli was a pair of graduate students in Priya Patel (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) and Shaheen Essabhoy (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Alto). Patel eclipsed the course in 20:04.3 to finish 23rd while Essabhoy finished in 20:30.20 in34th place.

Freshman Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) was next to finished the course for the Tartans, as she did in 20:37.40 for 36th place. Fellow freshman Kathryn Reilly (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) was 38th overall in 20:48.6, as freshman Rachel Reolfi (North Canton, Ohio/Canton Central Catholic) was 42nd in 20:52.6. The seventh Tartan to finish was freshman Valerie Collins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) in 52nd place and a time of 21:17.2.
