NYU Places 18th in Season Finale

The New York University women's cross country team completed its 2016 campaign with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship, which was held on Saturday, November 12, hosted by Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.

The Violets compiled 517 team points, finishing right behind Clarkson University (515) and ahead of SUNY Brockport (540). 

SUNY Geneseo claimed the title with 90 points.

NYU's top finisher was Justine Morris, who took 84th place with a time of 22:54.1 over the 6K course. Not far behind was Emily Dethlefs, who finished 88th in a time of 22:59.6.   

Lara Dorsky was next up for the Violets, posting a time of 23:04.0 and finishing in 96th place. Rounding out the scorers for the Violets was Megan Davis (23:13.0, 104th) and Hannah Haley (24:02.4, 151st).

"Overall, it was a tough season. But, we bounced back and got stronger as the season progressed," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "We started to put things together and had a positive ending to the campaign. I think this bodes well for the upcoming track season."

Overall, 43 teams and 303 runners competed on Saturday.
