Great Run Places Anne Peterson 36th at NCAA XC Meet

From University of Rochester Athletics

Senior Anne Peterson turned in a stellar performance at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at Tom Sawyer Park, finishing in 36th place.

Peterson, the lone representative for UR at nationals, finished the 6-kilometer course in a time of 21:16.5 and was among the top-40 runners throughout the entire race.  Her finish narrowly missed her earning All-American honors, as she placed on the bubble, just one spot out of the top-35 who earn the distinction.

Stevens Institute of Technology senior Amy Regan, the 2014 NCAA Division III Cross Country champion won her second XC title in runaway fashion, clocking in with a time of 20:16.4, 15 seconds ahead of the nearest runner.  UR's Peterson crossed the stripe almost exactly one minute behind Regan.  Overall, 280 runners ran in the race.

The team title went Johns Hopkins University with the UAA's Washington-St. Louis taking second and SUNY Geneseo earning third.

Peterson's season comes to a close, but it was one which saw her earn 1st Team All-UAA accolades with a 5th place finish at the UAA Championships while also earning the individual berth to NCAA's with a 10th place run at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships last week.
