Four UAA men's teams received at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and three women's teams earned a spot in the field.
NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships Qualifiers
UAA champion Carnegie Mellon University, Washington University, NYU, and Emory University each received at-large bids to the men's championship.
UAA champion Washington University and Emory University automatically qualified for the women's championship by winning regional titles on Saturday. University of Chicago received an at-large berth.
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals must qualify in their respective NCAA regions.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large.
Fifty-six individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.
Ryan Stender of Brandeis University and Sam Merriman of Case Western Reserve University were selected to compete in the men's championship, while Emily Bryson of Brandeis, Aparna Alavilli of Carnegie Mellon, and Anne Peterson of University of Rochester were chosen to compete in the women's championship.
Spalding University and the Louisville Sports Commission are hosting the championships on Saturday, November 19 at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. ET followed by the men’s race at noon.
