Samantha Kitchen Leads Rochester At Yellowjacket Invitational

Rochester's women's cross country team competed it is home meet, the Yellowjacket Invitational, on Saturday afternoon, winding up in 13th place of 27 teams in the event.

Division I Cornell won the team title, with all seven of its top runners finishing in the top-10.  The Big Red compiled 23 points in the team standings.  The top Division III school was Ithaca College who compiled 103 points, a score which includes overall race winner Taryn Cordani who finished the 6k course in 21:16.0.  Oberlin College was third and St. Lawrence University was fourth.

The Yellowjackets accumulated 394 points and were led by senior Samantha Kitchen who finished in 39th place overall, running a time of 23:40.2.

UR's second finisher was sophomore Samantha Tetef who placed 104th in a time of 24:49.4.  Freshman Julia Myers was 107th after clocking in at 24:50.5.

Another first year runner was the fourth Rochester runner across the stripe, placing 127th after her time of 25:03.0 while senior teammate Kathryn van der Sloot completed the scoring in 159th place, earning a time of 25:33.9.

Rochester's displacers were freshman Jordan Floyd (173rd) who finished in 25:53.4 and junior Kirsten Holmberg (188th) who completed the race in 26:10.2.
