Rochester 12th of 22 At Geneseo Meet

Rochester's women's cross country team ended in 12th place of 22 schools on Saturday at the 38th annual Mike Woods Geneseo Cross Country Invitational held at Letchworth State Park.

The Yellowjackets, who were running a split squad on Saturday, accumulated 396 team points in the event.  Host and top-ranked SUNY Geneseo won the title with 22 points while Elizabethtown was second at 55.  Laurentian University was third, RIT fourth and SUNY Fredonia was fifth.

Leading the way for Rochester was senior Katrhyn van der Sloot who placed 63rd in a time of 24:02.8.  She was followed by sophomore Samantha Tetef who wound up 87th, crossing the finish in 24:27.2.

Jordan Hurlbut was UR's top finishing freshman, placing 97th and finishing the 6k course in 24:39.0 while junior Brianna Loughran was 135th in 25:15.7.  Completing the Yellowjacket scoring lineup was freshman Audry Mattle who was 145th and finished in 25:25.9. 

Rochester's displacers were sophomore Katie McKendrick who finished 147th (25:28.9) and freshman Jordan Floyd who was right behind her in 148th place (25:31.8).

The Yellowjackets finished off the race with sophomores Erin Tepesch (191st), Madeline Hoey (192nd) and Alice Freese (197th) along with senior Taylor Page (223rd).

RIT's Emma Jones was the overall race winner, completing the course in a time of 21:39.8.
