Rochester Places Fifth at UAA Cross Country Championships; Three Among Top 20

With three finishers among the top 20 individuals, the University of Rochester women's cross country team finished a strong fifth out of eight teams at the University Athletic Association championships, hosted here by Emory University.

The Yellowjackets finished with 106 points. Washington took the team title with 33 points. Chicago was second (75),  followed closely by Emory (90), Brandeis (96), and Rochester (106). Case Western Reserve was sixth (148) with Carnegie Mellon (199) seventh, and NYU eighth (209).

Annie Peterson finished fifth at the race, timed in 22:00.73. It is her highest career finish at UAAs and earns First Team All-Association accolades for her. Samantha Kitchen earned Second Team All-UAA kudos for a 13th place finish (22:25.78). Rachel Bargabos was 20th, Rochester's third runner through the finish line (22:47.71).

Audrey McCarthy was the fourth UR finisher. She was 33rd in 23:26.59, and Ayumi Yuasa was 35th in 23:30.41. The UR displacers were Ariane Hasbrouck in 23:52.17 (41st) and Clara Wolfe in 42nd place (23:53.65).
