The Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team raced to a runner-up finish to open the season at the Gabby Reuveni Early Bird meet in Forest Park Friday evening.
In the women's race, three WashU runners earned a top-10 finish as the Bears racked up 48 points to place second in the team standings behind Southern Indiana's 15 points.
"It was a great start. We would consider it a rust buster," Bears' head coach Jeff Stiles said. "Overall I think we're looking at if they're executing races and I thought it was a good team effort."
