Washington University Repeats as NCAA Midwest Regional Champions

The Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team had five runners finish in the top-25 en route to winning the 2016 NCAA Division III Midwest Region Cross Country Championships Saturday at Lake Breeze Golf Club.

The WashU women scored 66 points to win its third consecutive NCAA Midwest Regional title, and earn the eighth regional title in school history. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse finished as the runner-up with 81 points to claim the other automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. WashU previously won the NCAA Midwest Region Championship in 2002, 2005-07, 2011, 2014 and 2015.

The top-five runners for the WashU women all raced to All-Region honors by finishing in the top-35 – junior Aly Wayne (2nd), junior Alison Lindsay (3rd), sophomore Ellie Degen (17th), freshman Elizabeth Hagstrom (20th) and senior Annie Marggraff (24th).
