Tartans Place Sixth at Paul Short Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, September 29 and finished sixth in the non-Division I race. Senior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H. / Hanover) paced the Tartans with a second-place finish.

Alavilli's time of 21 minutes and 24 seconds across the 6K course was second only to senior Nicky Roberts of Amherst College. It was the second race of the year Alavilli finished in the top two. Behind Alavilli for the Tartans was sophomore Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) in seventh place in 21:47. Sophomore Kate Reilly (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton Prep) was next to finish the course for the Tartans, as she did in 22:42 for 32nd place.

Freshman Parvathi Meyyappan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) ran the race in 23:28 for 71st place while sophomore Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) was 78th in 23:34. Not too far behind was freshman Isabelle Chickanosky (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Joseph's Academy) in 94th place in 23:56 with senior Rhiannon Farney (Winston Salem, N.C. / Mount Tabor) placing 104th overall in 24:10.
