Madeline Lindemann Earns All-UAA Honor to Lead CWRU at Championship Meet

Case Western Reserve University sophomore Madeline Lindemann earned the first all-conference honor of her career to pace the 34th-ranked Spartans to a seventh-place finish at the 2017 University Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park, New Jersey on Saturday.

Lindemann was the team's top finisher, placing sixth out of 76 finishers in the women's 6K race.  She crossed the finish line in a time of 24:18.2, marking the first time over her two-year career as a Spartan that she has been the first member of the team to finish at a meet.

Lindemann was followed by senior Danielle Kulpins, who placed 20th overall with a time of 24:49.0, while junior Jennifer Hoffmann was the team's third finisher, crossing the line 31st overall with a mark of 25:13.7.  Completing the team's scorers were sophomore Vanessa Pasadyn in 41st place with a time of 25:32.6, and junior Ellen Sears in 52nd place with a time of 26:06.0.  Other finishers for CWRU at the meet included senior Claire Plunkett (58th, 26:26.2), junior Isa Torres-Padin (61st, 26:35.0), freshman Olivia Battistoni (63rd, 26:51.1), freshman Cara Giannuzzi (68th, 27:04.5) and senior Rachel Laveson (27:25.9).

The Spartans finished the meet with an overall score of 147 to place seventh out of the eight team competing.  Washington University won the meet with a score of 37, followed by Chicago in second place (74) and Emory in third (107).  Chicago's Khia Kurtenbach was the top individual to finish, completing the course in a time of 23:04.7.
