Junior Rachel Bargabos posted a top-100 finish representing the University of Rochester women's cross country team on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
Bargabos posted a 6k personal best time of 22:06.40 to finish in 81st place of 280 runners in the field.
The junior improved throughout the race on the cold, windy course at the North Farm Cross Country Course at Principia College. At the first split, coming at the two mile mark, Bargabos clocked in at 108th place, eventually bumping up to 88th place at the three mile mark, before knocking off seven other competitors en route to the finish.
This was Bargabos' second appearance at NCAA's, as she was a part of the team that ran to a 14th place result in the 2015 championships, with the then first-year runner placing in 100th place.
Overall on Saturday, fellow UAA athlete Khia Kurtenbach of the University of Chicago was the individual winner, crossing the finish in 20:39.20. On the team leaderboard, Johns Hopkins had four runners inside the top-40 and finished as national champions, accumulating 96 team points.
