Yellowjackets' Rachel Bargabos Places 13th at Atlantic Regionals

From University of Rochester Athletics

Rachel Bargabos produced one of her best times of the season – and in the most important meet to date – and it could provide a handsome reward.

Bargabos ran a 22:28.7 for six kilometers at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships at Houghton College on Saturday. She finished 13th individually in a field of 285 runners. That finish might leave her high enough in the group to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet next weekend at Principia College in Elsah, IL. The NCAA will announce the individual participants on Sunday.

As a team, Rochester finished seventh in a group of 41 teams, 285 individuals. First-years Danielle Bartolotta and Eileen Bequette ran in the top 44 runners. Bartolotta was 26th in 22:47.7, Bequette was 44th in 23:1.4.

Ayumi Yuasa (71st, 23:44.1) and Kelly Reese (92nd, 24:08.9) completed the Yellowjacket scoring finishers. The displacers were Brianna Loughran (100th, 24:14.0) and Samantha Tetef(24:21.5).
