Rochester Finishes 16th In Stacked Field At Williams Race

Rochester's women's cross country team placed 16th of 26 teams in an extremely difficult field at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic on Saturday afternoon at Mount Greylock High School.
 
Overall, the Yellowjackets tallied 427 team points and were among 10 nationally ranked schools in the race.  The team champions were #3 ranked MIT, with McGill University, a top Canadian school finishing as the runner-up.  5th-ranked SUNY Geneseo was third, host and #4 Willams ended fourth and #16 ranked Dickinson placed fifth in the team standings.
 
UR's top individual runner was Rachel Bargabos who finished the 6K course in 23:51.1, placing 38th of 286 total runners.
  
The next two runners through the chute for Rochester were Auymi Yuasa and Samantha Tetef who placed 105th and 106th respectively.  Yuasa clocked in at 25:02.6 while Tetef's time was 25:03.6.
 
Erin Tepesch finished in 25:32.0, good for 134th place, while teammate Danielle Bartolotta crossed the finish in 25:35.0, ranking 136th in the field.
 
UR's displacers were Ariane Hasbrouck in 137th (25:35.9) and Clara Wolfe in 140th (25:38.9).
 
Rochester's women also had some entries in the non-varsity 5K race held earlier in the day.  Eileen Bequette finished 6th of 85 total runners in that race, posting a time of 20:48.4.  Ximena Reyes Torres was 17th in 21:43.7 while Katie McKendrick was 24th in 22:01.8.
 
Also earning solid fnishes for the Yellowjackets in the open race were Meredith Ackley in 32nd and Jenna Bottone in 36th.
