The Washington University in St. Louis cross country women posted a first-place finish at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton (Ill.) College Saturday morning at St. James Farm Forest Preserve.
The WashU women posted seven of the top-10 times in the 6K as senior Audrey Western (22:24.5) led the way for the Bears posting the second best time overall, behind Wheaton's Hannah Roeske (22:20.8). Senior Anna Maurer (22:30.1), freshman Lara Rix (22:30.1) and junior Ellie Degen (22:36.3) posted the third through fifth best times, while junior Molly Shepherd (8th-22:42.3) and sophomore Elizabeth Hagstrom (10th-22:54.0) also represented the Bears in the top-10.
"We competed well and that's what it's all about," offered WashU head coach Jeff Stiles.
