Emory Finishes 20th At NCAA D-III Championships

The Emory women's cross country team closed out its 2018 season Saturday at the NCAA D-III Championships. The meet was held at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin.

The 25th-ranked Eagles registered a 20th-place finish out of 32 teams with a total of 514 points. The Championship boiled down to a two-team race with No. 2 Washington University edging No. 1 Johns Hopkins for the team title.  The Bears of WU totaled 98 points while JHU recorded 99 points. MIT claimed third place with 247 points.

Senior Kaylee Slade led the Emory contingent for the seventh time this year in as many outings, clocking a personal-best 6K time of 22:27 that ranked 88thout of 277 runners. Senior Kayla O'Shea scored for the sixth time in seven competitions after turning in a personal best, crossing the finish line in 22:33 that slotted her 100th on the leader board. Sophomore Carrie McIntyre was third on the squad and 145th overall after posting a season-best mark of 22:52.  Sophomore Susie Martin (23:11) and senior Maeve Andrews (23:12) rounded out the Eagle scorers.  Also competing were sophomore Abby Durfee (23:22) and freshman Zoe Friedman (24:03)

Paige Lawler from Washington University topped the field with an effort of 20:55.
