Sophie Elgamal Leads Chicago 11th-Place Finish at NCAA Championship

The UChicago women, led by sophomore Sophie Elgamal's All-American, 26th-place finish, took 11th place out of 32 teams at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship, besting their 2017 finish by three places in the process.

Elgamal finished the race in a time of 21 minutes, 46 seconds to earn her first All-American award, which is presented to the Top 40 finishers in the 279-runner race. Sophomore Emma Dyer was the next finisher in 65th (22:18), and juniors Maggie Boudreau (22:28) and Claire Brockway (22:29) formed a tight pack just inside 100, placing 90th and 92nd, respectively.

Rounding out the scorers for the UChicago women were first-year Lucy Jeffs (204th, 23:18) and sophomore Abigail Shoemaker (229th, 23:35).
