No. 2 Washington University Places in Top-10 at Division I Loyola Invitational

The Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country program ran to a top-10 finish at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, with the majority of the competition consisting of Division I teams from throughout the country Saturday afternoon in Chicago.

The No. 2-ranked WashU women placed sixth out of 33 programs, totaling 217 points with a 17:59 5K time from the top five Bears times. Princeton led the field with 65 points (17:22) followed by Grand Valley State's 79 (17:25), Ohio State's 85 (17:29), Illinois' 110 (17:36) and Missouri's 140 (17:44).

Junior Paige Lawler and graduate student Aly Wayne returned to the Bears lineup Saturday afternoon during the 5K course in Chicago and took charge. The duo scored the top two times for WashU as Lawler led the way with a time of 17:18 to place 11th overall and Wayne finished in 17:37 for 21st place.

The Red & Green's three through five runners were junior Sophie Watterson (49th, 18:10), freshman Gabby McGinn (63rd, 18:17) and senior Lisa Gorham (73rd, 18:30). Also placing in the top-100 of 380 overall runners (including racing alums) was sophomore Megan Girmscheid (18:36).
