Grace Lewandoski Joins University of Rochester Women’s Hoops From Team Impact

From University of Rochester Athletics

The University of Rochester women's basketball team is proud to announce the addition of Grace Lewandoski of Webster, New York to the 2019-20 team.  Grace joined the Yellowjackets through Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing serious and chronic illnesses.

Rochester held a special draft day celebration on Friday, December 13th on the University's River Campus to officially announce the 9-year old Lewandoski as a member of the team.

The top recruit from Team IMPACT is now an official member of UR's women's basketball and will attended practices, games, team dinners, events and more throughout the remainder of the season. Grace is the first ever Team IMPACT representative at the University of Rochester.

"Grace and her family are an inspiration to our team and we truly appreciate all the time we get to spend with them," said Rochester head coach Jim Scheible. "This is going to be a great match and we are excited to build this relationship by adding Grace to our team."

Lewandoski joins a long list of Team IMPACT athletes who will benefit greatly from the experiences surrounding sports during these tough times in their lives.  Overall, Team IMPACT has matched over 1,900 children with more than 600 colleges and universities across 48 states, forming lifelong bonds.

Throughout the journey with Team IMPACT, all of the participating children gain strength, camaraderie and support while the student-athletes experience lessons of courage, resiliency and perspective, which cannot be taught in the classroom.
